(Please Note: The information given on this page may not be in exact chronological order, but has been simplified for web page presentation. I apologize if I have left anyone out that received a presentation or acknowledgement. It is not intentional. Let me know and I will be very happy to add you to this page. My notes were somewhat incomplete and there were many presentations. If you find a mistake, let me know and it will be corrected.)
HONOR WALL RE-DEDICATION Introduction and the "Honor Wall Re-dedication was given by Master of Ceremonies, Jean-Guy Martineau. It was a very emotional and moving presentation honoring those "Who have given all and those all who have given some" in the protection of our country and safeguarding the liberties we all enjoy. Our Honor wall was recently rebuilt after damage causing warping and rippling of the paneling. Those who helped to rebuild it and those who donated supplies were recognized and appreciated for their hard work and contributions to our post. Our New Re-Dedicated Honor Wall (from left to right):
POST OFFICERS RECOGNITION & APPRECIATION By Commander Roger Leger In the past, we had many evenings in this hall, when we honored and acknowledged many of our fellow comrades who made their contribution in making this post the best V.F.W. in Massachusetts. We had the celebration of the "Burning of the Mortgage", at which we honored the "Bond Holders." People like Paul Lyons, Lucien Morin, Babe Berube and so many others. We had other evenings in which we had retirement parties for Phil Verrette, Ed Luzinski, Ralph Rossetti and Rudy Marccuci. In the same spirit of those past celebrations, we want to recognize some of our officers and friends who have made more recent contributions to this Post:
Another lady, Barbara Rochon was honored for her dedicated service to the post and to the veterans of Salem:
ALL AMERICAN COMMANDER PRESENTATIONS J.C. Martineau and Jean-Guy Martineau presented Commander Roger Leger with the All American Citation and All American Hat. Commander Leger was also presented with all of his service awards as a special gift.
Several former Post Commanders were present and asked to stand and be acknowledged and appreciated for their past dedicated service to the post. Other people present and acknowledged were:
Flowers were presented to many of the ladies for their dedicated service and support:
POST PRESENTATIONS By President of the Board of Directors, Jack Lyons The post, as great as it is, needs a home here at 95 Derby Street. This building is the body which holds the heart and spirit of Witch City VFW Post #1524. As president of the Board, I would like to make a few presentations to a few people who have worked hard to keep the building worthy of being the home and headquarters of Witch City Post 1524. Post presentations were given to past Presidents of the Board:
Presentations were given to Michael Swasey, Shawn Szczechowicz, Paul Boyd and Bob Dunham of E.M.R. Drywall.
A special acknowledgement was presented to Jean-Guy Martineau, Salem Veterans Services.
After the presentations were made, a buffet dinner was served to all members and guests. Later entertainment included Karaoke and socializing. Congratulations Everyone! ![]()
