5:30 am - Dad coaching and offering support with birthing mother
during transitional contractions. I am standing by to assist.
Birthing mom was comfortable on the floor during her labor
and she said didn't want to mess up the clean bed.

5:45 am - Dad offering support, and birthing mom was
"breathing the baby out" during crowning of the head.
There was very little, if any, pushing during the birth
of the head. Birthing mother is touching the baby's head.
I have my fingers resting on the baby's head
and offering perineal support.

5:53 am - The baby's head is born. I am checking for a cord
around the neck. Baby begins rotation for the shoulders.

5:54 am - The baby's shoulders are being delivered.
The baby is already breathing and making little "cry" sounds.

5:55 am - birth of infant girl.
She has full breathing and is very vocal.

5:56 am - Announcement of You have a daughter.
|
|
5:58 am - Placing baby on mom's tummy for warmth
and I am grabbing a warm towel to cover the infant.

6:00 am - I am instructing mom to begin nursing to help
deliver placenta. Baby is warm on mom's tummy.

|
6:10 am - Mom is nursing her new daughter for first time.
|
|
6:15 am - Big sister is being introduced to new little sister.
|
|
6:20 am - Dad congratulates mom with affectionate kiss.
|
|
6:30 am - Placenta has been delivered.

7:00 am - Dad is holding daughter for first time.
|
|
7:00 am - Dad and daughter bonding.
|
|
8:15 am - Baby exam includes weighing in at 7 lbs 8 oz.

8:30 am - After baby exam, cleanup and getting her first diaper.
|
|
9:15 am - Mom, all cleaned up with daughter and midwife.
I am getting ready to leave for home. Another birth completed.
A new member of the family has arrived into the loving arms of her mom.
