Question:According to the date that my last cycle started the 26th of May and I am suppose to be ovulating on 9th of June. According to the ovulation predictor, you can get pregnant 3 days before you start ovulating. I had intercourse on the 7th of June. On the 8th of June I started to have pain where my ovary is. Can you explain what is happening? My cycles are irregular and I took an ovulation kit test on the 7th of June and it was negative.
According to your question, you had intercourse on the 7th of June, which was 12 days into your (irregular) cycle. On June 8th you had pain where one ovary is (it could have been ovulation pain or not). Since your test kit said you were not ovulating on June 7th, it sounds like you didn't and couldn't get pregnant on June 7th.
You do not get pregnant 3 days before you ovulate. You have to ovulate (the follicle releases an egg) for the sperm to meet with the egg to fertilize it. Ovulation occurs, according to the Billings, 16 days before you begin to menstruate. On the gestation wheels that midwives and other health care providers use to determine at what week you are in your pregnancy, it shows ovulation at 14 days. This is only a general standard measurement. This may not be the case for all women.
This is easy for women who have regular cycles, but more difficult for women who have irregular ones. A woman with a 28 day cycle, will ovulate around the 12 to 14th day. A woman with a 25 day cycle, will ovulate around the 8-10th day.
If you had a 28 day cycle, starting May 26th, you could ovulate or you could conceive on the 14th day - that being June 9th, or the 12th day - that being June 7th. Sperm can live for 48 hours and an egg for 24 hours. (That means that intercourse on June 7th, ovulation on June 9th could mean a pregnancy)
A suggestion would be that you continue to monitor your basal temperature and mucous, be aware of your body's changes and expose yourself to lots of sunlight. Consider taking nutritional supplements that will support your pituitary and ovaries.
