This due date calculator is based on the fact that the average human pregnancy lasts about 280 days from the last menstrual period (LMP). Keep in mind, however, that only five percent of women deliver their babies on their projected due date. So this date should be used as an estimate; it is not an exact calculation. In addition, the calculator may not provide an accurate reading if you have irregular ovulation or menstrual periods or menstrual cycles that are not the average 28 days in length.

Always consult your midwife or health care provider to determine your correct due date.

An average human pregnancy lasts for about 280 days or 40 weeks from the date of the last menstrual period (LMP). Traditionally, it has been calculated as 10 lunar months, or in terms of the modern calendar - 9 months and 7 days. Fertilization however, occurs (considering an average menstrual cycle of 28 days) 14 days after the last periods. Thus, the actual duration of a human pregnancy (gestation period) is 280 - 14 = 266 days.
