This is a list of supplies that we ask our birthing clients to have on hand for their births:
Olive, Sesame, Wheat Germ or Almond Oil (for perineal massage)
(Incontinence Pads can be used while flow is extra heavy)
The sheets, washcloths, towels and receiving blankets should be washed clean with bleach & detergent and dried in a hot dryer for 10 extra minutes. These should then be bagged in plastic and taped shut until they are ready to use.
Herbs: Shepherd's Purse, Comfrey Leaf, Raspberry Leaf, Echinacea & Ginger Root.
Suggestions: Make up some raspberry leaf tea ice cubes before labor begins. These are wonderful to suck on during labor, are highly nutritious and assists labor by promoting good effective uterine contractions. Other suggestions for labor nutrition are light soups (such as boullions and homemade chicken soup), fruit juices which are not highly acidic (such as apple juice), herbal teas (ginger root or peppermint tea for nausea; raspberry leaf, nettle leaf, alfalfa leaf for vitamin K content and nutritional value); chamomile tea (for relaxation).
The baby will need to have some basic supplies for the birth, but more will be needed for a standard layette:
Other suggestions: Film and camera. We will be taking photos of before, during and after the birth, but parents may also want to take some photos. Video camera. Water bath or kiddy swimming pool with syphon hose and faucet attachments, if planning a water birth experience. Relaxing music (classical, new age, nature sounds recommended). Aromatherapy incense, candles and oils. Massage oils, scented with aromatherapy essential oils.

I will design and sew up special orders for you. Be sure to include your name, address, phone number, e-mail address and any other helpful information necessary for me to assist you. Be sure to order early in your pregnancy. Allow 6-8 weeks for delivery, depending on items ordered, because some items you request may have to be made to your specifications (such as baby clothes) or ordered from other vendors (specific herbs, medical supplies, etc.). I will be in frequent e-mail and/or phone contact with you to let you know how your order is progressing and when ready to be sent to you. I will try my best to get your order together and sent to you as quickly as possible.
If you are Goth, Pagan, or Wiccan and you would like to have specially made baby clothes and layette items made for your baby beyond the usual pink and blue baby items.
