Leather's Book of Shadows (BoS)
Rituals, Spells & Magick
Often a Book of Shadows begins with a book blessing.
This poem is adapted from Silver Ravenwolf's "To Stir a Magick Cauldron"
reminds us of who we are and why we keep this book.
I will serve the Great Goddess
And give reverence to the Great God
I am a Pagan Witch
A stone in the ancient circle
Standing firmly
Balanced on the earth
Yet open to the winds of heaven
And enduring through time
May the old gods witness my words
Blessed be.

Spells/rituals always work better when they from the practitioner in his/her own words and creation.
Magickal energy is neutral. It is the intention of the practitioner which make the magick positive or negative.
Some of the spells I have used in self protection for myself, my family, and many other innocent victims (human & animal) may initially appear to be gray in intention... but the way the spell was set up, the method of triggering it, never removed the free will of another.
I am extremely careful about these things!! Sometimes it's better not to do anything at all and let the natural forces of the universe do their own "thing". Things often have a way of working out on their own.
However, some of the most "flowery" love spells I have seen... were the most negative in intention as it would totally bind and remove the free will of the intended receiver, keeping them tied in a situation that was not a positive one for either party involved.
A conditional binding is not always negative. A love spell is not always positive. Use wisdom and common sense and leave the final results up to the Deities and Powers That Be. Keep in mind... that if the spell is not totally warranted, karmically, than you have an excellent chance of having it boomerang back on yourself. Again... Keep in mind THE LAW OF THREE... WHAT YOU SEND OUT YOU RECEIVE BACK THREE TIMES AROUND. In other words... What goes around, comes around. Keep it positive... Protect yourself and never intentionally harm another or even yourself!
