ANIMAL SPIRIT GUIDES: THE HORSE
Shamanism, the world's oldest healing tradition, is found in all cultures on Earth.
Shamans work with their allies - the animal spirits. Learn the wisdom of these spiritual teachers. They are many and their wisdom will appear to you before they do.
Those of us who follow the Pagan Pathways, such as Witchcraft or Wicca/Wicce, may also work closely with the animal kingdom both with animals found around us on our earthly plane and those that reside in the astral realms, such as Dragons, Gryphons and such. Many of us follow pathways very similar to those of shamanism.
THE HORSE
Much of what you can experience at Horse Spirit Connections is drawn from a variety of ancient Native American traditions that seek to bring about a deeper connection with your world.
You will begin to see that everything is alive with spirit. By gaining a much deeper connection with the world, you will see the wonder that is life and gain a richer relationship with all its many parts, seen and unseen.
In legends told throughout the Far East, central Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, horses were considered mediums between the Spirit and Material Worlds. Certain Celtic tribes used a white mare as an oracle. Arabic tales exalted the horse's sixth sense. Horses were also perceived as carrying riders between the seen and unseen realms or leading people to some form of lost knowledge. Modern Yakut shamans would not dream of visiting the Otherworld without the aid of their horses.
Shamanism may be thought of as a system of knowledge and a process of seeing with the heart for the purpose of accessing spiritual guidance. It bridges the visible and invisible worlds as well as the human and animals realms with a special knowledge of healing. Shamans align themselves with the spirits of the animals. A kind of collective consciousness binds them together with the animal kingdom. So intimate was the sharing of the mind with the animals, that shamans believed it possible to actually become an animal. The animal with which the shaman identified himself was a powerful spirit guide throughout their life.
Some of the greatest teachers we can have are animal spirit helpers. They teach us about the animal world and their special perceptions and awareness of life, which can open up new dimensions for us. They reflect things about us in a unique way. They communicate to humans through dreams, visions and the shamanic journey. Your personal Power animals can be retrieved so that you begin to develop that special relationship with them in your daily life.
The magnificent horse, in particular, provides a powerful pathway to reconnect with the natural world. Horses live in harmony with nature and they want to teach us the Ways of Harmony because they have great love for us.
Horses are our spirit guides in this journey to discover our inner selves. Horses encourage us to be in the moment. The size of such an animal alone inspires a heightened state of awareness. When we engage with the horse with no agenda but to enter into the circle of life and just be, we enter a gateway that brings us more fully into the present moment and moves us into alignment with life. We place ourselves in the sacred realm of the natural world, open the way for experience, reflections and dialogue and then stand aside and allow the process to happen.
DESCRIPTION OF MEDICINE - A SPIRITUAL CONNECTION
The word "medicine" means "spiritual quality." Everything has a medicine.
What is your medicine? What is your inner essence (including the parts of it you'd rather not own)? When you begin to discover your inner self, and accept it, you begin to be authentic. We generally carry some hurt about the way our lives have been influenced over the years. When you follow your heart, you will become more authentic, this in turn gives you more energy, as you are not spending your time struggling to be someone else.
THE HORSE CONNECTION
Speed, strength, and grace are the finer qualities of this noble animal. The horse lived on the North American continent for thousands of years, but mysteriously disappeared and was later reintroduced by Spanish Conquistadors in the 1500's. American Indians quickly mastered equestrian skills and found the spirit of the horse to be a valuable asset in learning ways of leadership, safety in movement and freedom. Horse Spirit Connections will help facilitate your path to spiritual awareness.
HORSE MEDICINE
Even though the horse can be domesticated, it's spirit forever roams into the far reaches of freedom. The horse meant ease of movement for indigenous people who quickly learned they could hunt and move into new territories as never before. For those who seek the spirit of the horse, the idea of freedom may be a predominant theme. To the American Indian, the horse symbolizes freedom and the power that comes with being free.
If horse has come in your dreams or visions, there may be a promise of safe travel ahead. Movement or a new adventure, whether it be physical or spiritual is near.
People knowledgeable of horse medicine know that taming the wild, freedom seeking aspects of its personality is not easy, but the benefits of gentleness and tolerance is attainable with patient kindness and continual training.
The horse spirit is intensely independent that often creates conflict in personal and professional relationships. People who walk with the horse spirit are often independent leaders who forge new paths of awareness.
The power and strength of the horse spirit is able to take its rider to new spiritual territory. It reminds us of our inner power and gives us courage to move forward.
The strong legs and back of the horse remind us to remain solidly grounded in our spiritual walk our earthly experiences and to carry the burdens of life with dignity.
A HORSE SPIRIT GUIDE
If the Horse is your spirit guide, this means, you posses a free spirit; one that moves with the wind. This type of personality trait comes from the Horse spirit that walks with you. To the American Indian, the Horse symbolizes freedom, and the power that comes with being free. People who are blessed enough to have such a wondrous spirit guiding them also posses high family values, and stamina. Those who walk with the Horse spirit beside them love there family and friends to no end and would do just about anything for them...including dying for them. Family is a strong and sacred bond among Horses, and this characteristic, he shares with you. You also are known for being able to take a lot in life... to be able to get back up every time you fall... to push forward, no matter how difficult it is. This kind of devotion to life and attaining the freedom that comes with having the Horse spirit is one of its best qualities.
A warning: Do not let yourself become too wrapped up in this freedom because you may find yourself drowning in it. Horse people tend to fall into the pattern of irresponsibility and this often leads to difficulty holding jobs, and relationships. However, the Horse is there with you to guide you in the right direction. Congratulations, you have a noble ally in the Horse, strong in body and ruled by a love for life.
