Glycerine is a by-product of soap-making and is used to extract hormonal precursors and glycosides from plants. Glycerine can be bought at a drugstore. The procedure for macerating plants in glycerin is exactly the same as for making a tincture. Use fresh plants only. fill a jar with the plant material; completely cover with glycerine that has been diluted 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 with water; and macerate, tightly covered, for at least six weeks.Definition: Maceration means the process of softening a solid by steeping in a liquid.
