RISK FACTOR OF 1
Age less than 18 or over 40. Family history of inherited disease. Crowded living conditions. Underweight - more than 20 lbs under ideal weight for height at time of conception. First prenatal visit at more than 20 weeks gestation. Exposure to X-rays during first trimester. History of infant over 10 lbs. History of dysfunctional labor. Primigravida over 35 years. Uncertain due dates.
RISK FACTOR OF 2
Less than 12 months from last delivery to due date. Grand multipara (Over 5 previous births). History of LBW (low birth weight) infant - less than 5 lbs. Repeated spontaneous abortions - 3 or more miscarriages. History of premature baby - less than 37 weeks. Previous antepartum hemorrhage. Pre-eclampsia (history of). Hepatitis (within last two years). Previous post-partum hemorrhage. History of gestational diabetes.
RISK FACTOR OF 3
Smoking greater than one pack per day. Poor nutrition. History of previous drug use and discuss drug use in peer review. Surviving birth-damaged infant. Overweight (more than 50 lbs over ideal weight at time of conception. Neonatal death (stillborn or within first 28 days). Uterine anomaly. Serious emotional problems. Previous cesarean section, low horizontal incision.
RISK FACTOR OF 4
Rubella - first trimester present pregnancy. Rh sensitization in previous pregnancy. Hypertension (equal to or greater than 140/90). Past uterine surgery (if uterus incised). Incompetent cervix.
RISK FACTOR OF 5
Rh sensitization in present pregnancy. Medical history factors such as:
- Heart disease.
- Thromboembolism.
- Chronic pulmonary disease.
- Renal disease (as adult excluding pyelonephritis).
- Diabetes (not gestational).
- Serious endocrine problems.
- Serious psychiatric problems.
- Serious neurological problems.
Current abuse of any of the following:
- Alcohol.
- Antidepressants.
- Hallucinogens.
- Narcotics.
- Psychotropic herbs.
- Sedatives.
- Hypnotics.
