This is defined as a variance from the normal temperature of 97.7°F to 99.4°F.
For Subnormal Temperatures:
Warm the baby.
Monitor every 30 minutes.
Transport if not responsive. For Elevated Temperature:
Assess baby's clothing, blankets.
Assess baby's hydration.
Evaluate for signs and symptoms of infection.
The midwife and/or mother should consult with pediatric care provider if temperature remains abnormal.
