Newborn With Very Low Apgar: Management Guidelines

1. Defined as Apgar of 1-3 at one minute, no change at 5 minutes.


2. Simultaneously:


a. Call ambulance, transport.


b. Start Neonatal Resusitation (NNR)


c. Document all events, actions and decisions.

Muscle Tone	Limp	Some Flexion	Active

Reflex Response	None	Grimaces	Sneezes or coughs
