  • BATH TEMPERATURE SAFETY

Before getting into the tub, add all ingredients to bathwater. The temperature of the bath water is an important factor, and some attention should be paid to it. Keep your bath water between 98.6°F and 100°F for most herbal bath treatments. Warm water (temps around 98°F) soothes and relaxes, while cool water (temps around 80°F) stimulates. A comfortable relaxing temperature safe for pregnancy is between 99°F to 101°F. Be wary of very hot baths (temps around 104°F to 110°F are considered hot... Do not exceed 120°F), this can dehydrate, dry the skin, and exhaust you. That high a temperature can also be harmful if you have high blood pressure, diabetes or are pregnant. If the water is too hot, your skin will perspire, and your body will be less likely to fully absorb the healing properties of the herbs. Bathe for 20 minutes and then gently dry your skin. Cover yourself with a warm blanket and rest about half an hour. This will enhance the relaxing effect of the relaxation bath.

  • RELAXATION BATH HERBS

A warm bath with relaxing herbs is a gentle way for your body, mind and spirit to find rest; it can also promote deep, restorative sleep. By adding calming medicinal plants to your bathwater, you can help strengthen and revitalize your entire body, a necessity when suffering from physical and mental stress. Such herbs as Lemon Balm and Chamomile have potent relaxing qualities that effectively reduce nervous tension. Relaxing baths help alleviate a general state of exhaustion and induce restful slumber, during which your body can recover and charge itself with new energy. Those who suffer from nervousness and find it hard to fall asleep - or stay asleep - may discover that a bedtime bath is helpful, since many medicinal plants have a balancing effect on stress-related sleep problems. Herbal bath formulas work by being absorbed through the skin and through inhalation of the steam. Using freshly dried, organically grown fragrant herbs is best.
