    BEE PROPOLIS DESCRIPTION

A COMPLEX STICKY SUBSTANCE FROM BEEHIVES

Bee Propolis is also known as Propolis, Bee Bread, and Bee Resin.

Bee Propolis is a chemically complex sticky "glue" collected from beehives. It contains resins collected from the buds and leaves of plants, volatile oils, and wax. The exact composition of Bee Propolis varies from hive to hive and from season to season, depending on the plants available to the bees for making their Honey, Bee Propolis, and Royal Jelly.

In cool and damp northerly climates, Poplar trees provide most of the resins appearing in propolis. In tropical forests, however, so many trees are sources of resins that the exact content of propolis is very hard to predict. Bee Propolis constituents vary by geograpical sources consisting of mostly flavanones, flavones, phenolic acid and their esters in Poplar-type Bee Propolis (European or North American origins); prenylated p-coumaric acids and diterpenes in Baccharis-type Brazilian or Green Propolis; prenylated benzophenones in Cuban or Red Propolis.

A rich reservoir of antioxidants, Bee Propolis serves as a "chemical weapon" of the hive against rapidly spreading infections. Natural therapists around the world recommend Bee Propolis as a food and medicine for relieving the symptoms of an astonishing range of health conditions. As a collection of plant products, Bee Propolis is a vegan food.

BEE PROPOLIS USES, HEALTH BENEFITS & SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE

    HEALTH BENEFITS

Propolis was known for its health benefits even to the ancient Egyptian physicians, who prescribed it for poorly healing wounds and inflammation. Dioscorides, a Greek pharmacologist, touted it to treat swelling and neuritis.

Propolis is a sort of "bee glue", a resinous substance collected from various plants (combination of resins from trees, bushes, buds, and glandular secretions) by bees. Bees use propolis, together with beeswax, in the construction, sealing, and repair of the hives, protecting their incubators from infection and warding off or blocking invasions of fungi, bacteria, viruses and toxins. The average-sized beehive produces 3.5 ounces of propolis yearly. Beekeepers leave half of this amount for the hive to live on and take the rest for its health benefits.

It is similarly beneficial in the human body offering antibiotic and analgesic properties. As a supplement, it is an excellent aid against bacterial infections.

    HONEY BEE PROPOLIS

Bee propolis is believed to stimulate phagocytosis, the means by which white blood cells destroy bacteria. It is recommended as a tonic for boosting immunity and for preventing premature signs of aging. Propolis can be used to help treat swollen joints, cold and flu, sore throats, arthritis, toothaches, sunburns, blemished, troubled, cracked or irritated skin, and inflammation. Helps with Asthma Problems, Respiratory and Urinary Tract Infections, Sinus Congestion, Cholesterol, Colds, Flu, Bronchitis, Food Poisoning, Ear Infections, Bone Healing, Ulcers, Gout, Arthritis, Eczema, Cavities, Gum Disease.

Propolis is called Russian Penicillin. It was found in every First Aid kit (and likely still is) in the Eastern European Countries where they did not have access to pharmaceutical drugs. It targets a wide variety of health problems naturally.

    PROPOLIS KILLS CANCER CELLS

A study was recently published in the American Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology demonstrating propolis' effect on breast cancer and prostate cancer cells.

PROPOLIS SHOWS ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY AGAINST MRSA

MRSA is that potentially deadly bacteria so commonly found in hospitals throughout the world that is resistant to most antibiotics. This is the first report that shows antibacterial activity of propolis against standard and resistant strains of E. coli and MRSA.

It just might be a good idea to consume Bee Propolis anytime you enter a hospital these days. MRSA is a very common bacteria and can easily be transferred. Keep a small bottle of tincture with you and load up on it when flying or whenever entering a high traffic public place.

    propolis preparations

    BEE PROPOLIS PREPARATIONS

Health food stores supply preparations that contain propolis alone or combined with other substances, such as flower pollen and royal jelly. It is available in the forms of powders, lozenges, granules, liquid vials, and tinctures. Propolis is also an ingredient in some skin creams, ointments, toothpastes, and mouthwashes.

    PROPOLIS OINTMENT & SALVE

Propolis Ointment significantly improves wound healing. A recent study published in the journal Pharmaceutical Biology evaluated the wound healing potential of propolis. The topical application of propolis ointment for 14 days significantly improved the wound contraction when compared to the control group.

As a salve or tincture, Bee Propolis has a germicidal effect and can be used to speed the healing of wounds. When taken internally, it stimulates the immune and circulatory systems. Propolis is beneficial used as a salve for abrasions and bruises because of its antibacterial effect. Good results have been reported on the use of propolis against inflammation of the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat, dry cough and throat, halitosis, tonsillitis, ulcers, and acne, and for the stimulation of the immune system.

    bee propolis supplements

    BEE PROPOLIS TINCTURE

A Bee Propolis Tincture made as a 50% solution of pure propolis with 50% neutral grain spirits (such as 100-proof vodka). This is a very potent mixture! Most commerically made propolis tinctures available have no more than 20% propolis. So you will need to use very little for a very effective dosage. Propolis Tincture will create a protective coating over the affected area while healing at the same time. It is truly an incredible and effective healing tincture. Three to four drops should be enough to sooth most sore throats and open cuts and sores in the mouth. When using a one ounce dropper bottle, you can get over 100 doses per bottle.

    BEE PROPOLIS CHUNKS

Bee Propolis Chunks are raw propolis pieces straight from the hive. It is suggested that you can simply chew the propolis chunks like gum. Chew it for as long as you can. For good health, chew 1 to 3 small 500 mg to 100 mg propolis chunks daily or as recommended by a health care professional. Bee propolis should be stored in the refrigerator.

    BEE PROPOLIS POWDER

Mix pure Bee Propolis Powder in your favorite morning drink. For good health, use 1/2 teaspoon daily or as recommended by a health care professional. Bee Propolis Powder should be stored dry cool dark area.

BEE PROPOLIS CREAM FOR ACNE RECIPE

    Slightly warm:
    2 teaspoons Chamomile Essential Oil
    3 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
20 drops of Bee Propolis Tincture

Combine with: 1/2 ounce of Clay Healing Earth (Healing Clay); dab on pimples.

Propolis ointment or cream can accelerate the recovery from sunburns and poorly healing wounds by disinfecting and coating the affected area with a protective film. The active components in propolis also aid in cell regeneration. In both ointments and skin creams, propolis is gentle and protective as well as water-resistant, which preserves the skin's natural acid layer. Propolis' antibiotic and cell-regenerating effects improve the appearance of blemished or problem skin.

The tincture helps relieve pain and itching from bee stings and ease the effects of spider venom. It may also reduce throat inflammation that is accompanied by difficulty swallowing and soothe swollen, pus-filled tonsils. Caution: Be sure to use the tincture as directed on the package.

    BEE PROPOLIS FOR RHEUMATISM

    BEE PROPOLIS DOSAGE INFORMATION

    THERAPEUTIC EFFECT OF PROPOLIS

Propolis is used to boost the body's immunity and for its antibiotic effects. It is also analgesic, making it beneficial for sore throats and toothaches. Flavonoids, one of the key therapeutic constituents of propolis, inhibit inflammation. When propolis is used externally, it can heal skin problems, counteract premature signs of aging and promote circulation.

    PROPOLIS COMPONENTS

Propolis consists of 50 percent resins and balm, 30 percent wax, 10 percent essential oils and 5 percent pollen. Trace elements such as iron, zinc, copper, cobalt and silicon make up the remaining 5 percent. Propolis also contains compounds from the flavonoid group; as many as 30 individual agents - including quercetin, myricetin, luteolin, apigenin and camphene - are present in substantial concentrations.

    PURCHASING BEE PROPOLIS SUPPLEMENTS

Be sure that any bee products you use smell and taste fresh. All be products should be in tightly sealed containers. It is best to purchase these products from a manufacturer who specializes in be products. If you are using products for allergies, it is best to obtain products that are produced within a ten-mile radius of your home. This way you get a minute dose of pollen to desensitize you to the local pollen in the area.

Propolis collected from honeybees is more strongly antibacterial than propolis collected from other kinds of bees. Because of its solid as a rock nature once gathered, it needs to be blended with a dispersing agent like carob.

Typical preparations include tinctures, capsules, suppositories, mouthwashes, and toothpastes. Most of the health benefits of propolis derive from its antioxidant properties, so for best results, store in a cool, dry, dark place in a tightly closed container.

No set dosage is recommended, but those who have used it combined with conventional medical therapy (surgical, chemo or radiation) for cancer have used Bee Propolis supplements between 10 ml (3 grams) to 30 ml (9 grams) daily doses (ethanol-extracted, 30% Brazilian Propolis) with no side effects or problems reported. The higher dosage has been used by patients with advanced cancer.

For everyday use and general health, chew 1 to 3 small propolis chunks daily or as recommended by your health care provider. If using Propolis powder, take a 1/2 teaspoon daily, or 5 drops of tincture, 2 to 3 times a day.

BEE PROPOLIS SAFETY, CAUTIONS & INTERACTIONS

About six percent of the population is mildly allergic to European propolis. Allergies to Brazilian (green) or Cuban (red) propolis have not been reported in the medical literature. If you have allergic reactions to propolis, discontinue use and consider consulting a health care practitioner.
