    CAMELLIA HERBAL DESCRIPTION

    Camellia (Camellia oleifera) is also known as White Tea Leaf, Green Tea Leaf, Camellia Oil and Tea Oil.

    Camellias are large, attractive, evergreen shrubs best known for their beautiful flowers. There are more than 2,300 named varieties of this shrub. Camellia oleifera grows in the mountains in the South East region of Asia and blossoms all winter. It is the type of tea oil that is used medicinally.

    The Camellia sinensis variety is the source for green tea.

    Camellia oil is rich in mono-unsaturated fatty acids, oleic and linoleic acid, and vitamins A, B, and E. It has antioxidant, disinfectant, and germicidal properties and is free of cholesterol. It is said that roughly one-seventh of China’s population uses Camellia oil for skin and hair care, and for cooking. In the Western world it is known as "Eastern Olive Oil." Camellia Leaf extract is often used in skin products and body soaps.

    CAMELLIA USES, HEALTH BENEFITS & SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE

    Camellia oil is useful in lowering blood cholesterol levels and blood pressure, and helping prevent coronary diseases. This oil rejuvenates skin cells which is beneficial for moisturizing the skin and hair, and strengthening the nails.

    Camellia oil contains squalene which helps increase oxygen production, counters the effects of fatigue and anoxia, and enhances the body’s metabolism. It also boosts the immune system and improves the overall function of the intestine and stomach.

    Using Camellia oil directly on the skin provides protection from ultraviolet radiation. The oil also works well in treating tinea (fungal infections), such as jock itch and athlete’s foot. As an ingredient in shampoo, Camellia oil helps clear up dandruff, prurigo, and can help prevent hair loss.

    Camellia oleifera is cold pressed and refined with a subtle, slightly herby scent.
