Celtic Calendar The Ancient Celts divided the year into 13 months and one day. The 13 months probably corresponded to the cycles of the moon in a year, and the one day? Well that remains a mystery. The months are as follows:-
Source - The Pagan Source Book - Nigel Pennick * The One day - Falls on the 23rd December, or more probably on the Winter Solstice, and is called the Secret of the Unhewn Stone! Why they choose this day, and to celebrate standing stones remains a mystery. The Celts built huge monuments throughout the Celtic world, many aligned to star and solar alignments, and they named one day, after the stones. |
