Angels & Spirit GuidesAs a Pagan priestess and a spiritual being having a human experience, and whether I prefer to call them spiritual guides, guardian angels, or simply angels, I do believe we all have these spiritual beings that are around us and are there to help us when we choose to ask for their help. There are many types and have many different functions. Some of these beings may have had a previous physical incarnation and others have never taken on a physical form (usually these are called angels). These beings may take many different forms from human-like to an animal form to a passed relative or friend. Some act as messengers, some act as protectors and guardians of an individual person or family. Some are more generic in function and service helping humans connect with the spiritual dimension and also to help with transporting the spiritual essence or soul of a person during a birth or during a death. Some of them help us by providing us with extra personal insight through our use of intuition and provide us with extra strength when we may need it in our lives. But the thing they all have in common is unconditional love. We can connect with them during our dreaming state in sleep, during meditation, during times of stress, during religious rites and ceremonies, and during our waking hours. We become more aware of them when we are in an altered state of consciousness. They may help us through visual means, through the quiet voice we may hear inside our head, during our dreams, or many other methods of divination. You may have one specific guide or several during your lifetime. Most of all, don't be afraid or hesitate to talk to them and ask them for help or guidance when you need it. This is what they are there to do. To help when asked. Most responses are subtle and may need interpretation or may not be what you expect, but you do receive responses. Be open to them and be aware of any and all possibilities. We all receive help, but not all of us choose not to hear it, especially if it isn't what we were hoping for.
Angels and spirit guides are inter-dimensional beings linking the physical dimensions with the finer dimensions. Ask for an angel/spirit guide and you will receive one for they are here to serve. They have no ego - being a link with benign, benevolent and divine forces.
Angels and spirit guides are not the same as nature beings, for the latter have ego. A conscious being with ego is not an angel/spirit guide. It is the ego that harms - the weapon of the denser realms. Angels and spirit guides cannot harm. Angels and spirit guides are light, loving, delightful, light-hearted, gentle, sweet. They DO exist.
The American Military have scientifically trained persons using remote viewing as a technique to investigate other dimensions that co-exist with ours. The existence of other dimensions is not under question. All the teams of remote viewers in Military employment reported dimensions of those who had died - heaven/summerlands - and also dimensions in which they found loving, conscious beings which they "scientifically" termed " Midwayers". These "Midwayers" seemed to be what various religious and spiritual groups have called “Angels”. The "Midwayers" reported that their function was to assist humans. The big brass of the United States Army were somewhat thrown by these findings as "heaven/summerlands" and "angels/spirit guides" had not been on their agenda! The remote viewers were not religious or spiritual persons - simply Army personnel.
Sometimes it is difficult to feel constantly in tune with the divine (God/dess as we personally understand him/her) - especially in times of stress or pressure. Calling for the assistance of an Angel, visualizing the loving energy enfolding us, or protecting us, for some people, seems less remote - more personal, more possible.
When miracles happen around you, you will know your angels and spirit guides have logged you onto the Cosmic Internet so you can download love. These miracles will be noticed by you as "lucky breaks", coincidences, synchronizations of timing and personal moments of grace. Your angels and spiritual guides will leave traces of their work in every corner of your life.
When you choose to work with angels/spirit guides, you simply ask for one. Do this when you feel you have "lost" the God/dess of your understanding, or you feel cut off spiritually or deserted or not worthy in some way, or your life has become unmanageable. Order angels/spirit guides by the dozens if you like - one for every occasion. They will link you up once more to the God/dess of your understanding, the divine force of love - and THEY will be delighted!
Angels and Spirit Guides Overview Have you ever felt a presence — and a sudden realization — which you didn’t know where it came from? If it gave you a tremendous sense of peace, calmness, or a feeling of unconditional love, it was probably your angel. If it was an idea, or addressed a day-to-day issue of informational nature, then it was undoubtedly one of your spirit guides. But who are these entities, where do they come from, and what is their purpose?
There are massive changes occurring on our planet and we are currently involved in the most glorious spiritual transformation we have ever seen. Angels and spirit guides are now working with us on a conscious level because we are listening. Their messages embrace time to change, time to grow, time to heal our lives, and time to heal our planet. Angel merchandise of every kind has seen tremendous popularity and success in recent years more than ever before. We surround ourselves with angels, faeries, spiritual icons, and likenesses of people and animals we seem to have an affinity for in the forms of jewelry, statuary, and other knickknacks that bring us comfort. What we are doing is surrounding ourselves with images of our angels, spirit, and animal guides. While some people may not realize this on a conscious level, they know on a spiritual level who and what these images mean to them.
Angels and spirit guides come into our lives in a variety of ways. Some people can see them visually during waking hours, in dreams and visions, through spoken word or song, and in other areas of creativity. Although we have a lot in common, angels and spirit guides are not necessarily of human nature. We project human characteristics upon them, including the need to call them by name. But we can communicate and work with them regularly as part of our lives.Have you ever noticed that babies lie there looking all over the place? They are watching the angels and spirits of all kinds! Children can readily see angels and spirits until they are discouraged from doing so. Unfortunately, many adults unwittingly stifle young childrens' "sight" because of their belief system, or simply fear. Never discourage a child’s "imagination." That "imaginary" friend is really an angel, spirit guide, or nature spirit. Just because you can’t "see" it doesn’t mean it’s not there! Set an extra place at the table and honor the child’s "friend." You’ll have a much better adjusted child than you might realize!
Here are some questions to ponder:
· Where do they come from?
· Where were they created?

· Do they have free will?
· Can people become angels or spirit guides?
· Do they ever come to Earth and take on human form?
· Are they external entities, or merely aspects of our souls?
· Are they reflections of our future selves toward whom we are evolving?
What follows is information about angels and different kinds of spirit guides so you may develop a greater understanding of who they are and their purpose.
AngelsAngels have always been with us, in every time and culture. Through pictograms, paintings, poetry, and children’s stories our ancestors down through the ages have passed on whatever they knew about these beings. Angels transcend all religions and are apparent in most.
Angels’ messages come to us in the form of feelings of unconditional love, bring deeply cared for, greater self-acceptance, and inner peace. These are all signs of angelic connection.
It is of historic belief that angels, like people, belong to families or clans. Many names have been given to them, but in the opinion of a number of angelologists, the most familiar can be arranged in three categories, or spheres, starting with those closest to God/dess, and moving down to those who are assigned to the physical world. This is by no means the only classification system in the history of angels, but this will give you an idea as to what is believed to be their hierarchy.
Orders of Angelic BeingsMetatron: is the celestial scribe (God/dess's secretary) and oversees all angelic activity.
The First Sphere: Angels who serve as heavenly counselors are the Seraphim, Cherubim, and Thrones:
Seraphim: is the highest order of celestial beings said to surround the throne of God/dess.
Cherubim: are the guardians of light and of the stars.
Thrones: are the companion angels of the planets. At this time in our history, it’s important for us to be aware of the particular throne, the Earth Angel, who is guardian of our planet. We often refer to her as our Earth Mother or Mother NatureThe Second Sphere: Angels who work as heavenly governors are the Dominions, Virtues, and Powers:
Dominions: govern the activities of all the angelic groups below them in the hierarchical order integrating the spiritual and the material worlds. Although they take their orders from God/dess, they rarely contact individuals.
Virtues: are of particular importance to us now because they are able to beam out massive levels of divine energy. As more of us learn to work with the virtues, there will be a greater infusion of spiritual energy available for our planet. This is happening now.
Powers: are the bearers of the conscience of all of humanity, the keepers of our collective history.The Third Sphere: angels who function as heavenly messengers
Principalities: are the guardian angels of all large groups, from cities and nations to recent human creations such as multinational corporations.
Archangels: tend to the larger arenas of human endeavor; the four we are most familiar with are Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, and Auriel. There are billions of archangels and they are having more contact with humanity than ever before.
Angels: are the ones we’re most familiar with, the ones most concerned with human affairs, known as companion angels or guardian angels. As we enter a time of increased light and love on our planet, they will not need to guard us so much, but rather they will be our guides to higher and greater levels of consciousness.
As A Pagan priestess and an ordained minister, I often contemplate the origin of the "Elder or Old Gods and Goddesses" that were honored and worshiped prior to the monothesiastic patriarchial "one male god" religions of Judism, Islam, and Christianity. I believe that they existed as actual spiritual and/or nature beings that interacted with human groups and individuals. When these "Deities" were no longer called upon by a person or group of people, then they no longer interacted with humans. As we once again recognize them, honor them, and call upon them again with our growing religious awareness and movement back towards the old ways and the honoring of our Earth Mother (which by definition above is the Earth Throne Angel), they are again interacting with and becoming a part of our human experience. Some Pagans look upon the Elder or Old God/desses as symbols of the Divine energy instead of actual spiritual beings that existed then and still exist. Personally, When I invoke a deity, I feel a presence of that spiritual being who is there to assist me in my work. These beings have been seen by sensitive individuals when doing ritual work. I do believe they are real beings that will help when called upon. Who is to say that these "Deities" were not actually "Angels", as defined above, from one of the various angelic orders that are connected with the Divine Source/Energy of the God/dess.
Spirit Guides Our spirit guides can appear in the form of human beings, nature spirits (faeries, elves, gnomes, etc.), animal spirits (this includes dragons, gryphons, ect. as well as other animals such as lions, tigers, bears, and so forth), and even alien entities. They are spirits with which we can identify and resonate.
Talking with your angels and spirit guides will provide you with a key to understanding yourself. It can also help you to clarify your purpose in life, and open you up to your unique gifts.
How can you tell who’s talking, and what’s the difference?
The tone of the words and the subject matter will clue you; each voice has a different sound or feel to it. Guides, most of whom were once in physical form, give us direction and tend to address day-to-day human concerns. They can also provide us with predictive information.
The easiest way through life is to "follow your guidance." When you feel the action in right, follow it. If you don’t feel comfortable about it, don’t. This may sound simple, but most people don’t follow their guides’ direction. They exercise "free will," which is our God/dess-given gift, but with the exercise of free will comes a whole new set of challenges they might not otherwise have had to experience. This is not a bad thing; just think of it as an assignment for "extra credit."
Guides can be seen in various forms, including extraterrestrials. Some people come from other planets and star systems. While all extraterrestrial guides I’ve seen appear to be humanoid in appearance, they project a quality of "differentness" and their messages have a more impersonal, universal outlook.
Nature spirits are very much around us. Appearing to us in the form of faeries, elves, gnomes, and the like, they tend the animal, vegetable, and mineral kingdoms. Their messages relate to the growth and well being of Mother Earth and her creatures.
Animal spirits are often those animals we are most attracted to (mine happens to be a she-dragon that introduced herself to me when I was 14 years old and has been with me for 37 years and my daughter has a gryphon as a animal guide that has been with her for several years). Some animal spirits are with us throughout our lives. Some come to us to assist us through a spiritual, mental, emotional, or physical process. Animals come to us with distinct messages providing us with guidance and direction. We also have animals that were former pets that have passed over to the other side and are still connected with us through a love bond, still lingering around us and will make themselves known on occasion. These animals are usually there to still provide comfort and love as they did in life.
Deceased loved ones also make their presence known. Whether you get a "feeling" your loved one is close by, or whether they come to you in your dreams, they usually have a personal message for us. Some ask for forgiveness, some affirm that we are doing the right thing, some assure us that they are all right.
Some of the signs of angel and spirit communication include chills, goose bumps, tingling sensation, heightened clarity of vision, emotional response, sweet or fragrant smell that cannot otherwise be explained i.e. flowers, but there are no flowers around. Some experience a slight drop in temperature when their loved ones are around. These are all signs of a spiritual encounter. Others we may see, touch and feel, hear, and interact with in dreams, during meditation, or when we are in any altered state of consciousness or at times of emotional or physical stress.
The Aura The aura is the vibrational energy surrounding everyone and everything. Everything in the universe has energy, including our thoughts and consciousness. Even what you might think of as non-living objects have auras. Observe the aura of an antique chair. The chair will have the aura of the energy it picked up wherever it was, as well as subtle energies left behind from those who have sat in it. Even new items have auras. While they may not have imprints left by time, they will have the vibrational energies of the materials they are made of, and possibly, those of any humans who came in contact with them throughout the production process.
The aura is the spiritual embodiment of our true nature. Observing a person’s aura allows you to diagnose dis-ease within the body long before physical symptoms become evident. By consciously controlling your aura, you can actually heal yourself. You can often tell if someone is not being honest with you by certain colors and fluctuations in their aura. You can decide if you wish to purchase a certain house, vehicle, antique furniture or other furnishings, just by observing its aura (I will address "cleansing" later). Seeing and reading auras can do wonders for your consciousness, spiritual development, and awareness of your true nature.
We can all see auras to the extent of our intuitive ability. While it seems we may be seeing auras with our eyes, actually, we are seeing the aura through our intuitive nature at a higher level of consciousness, or our "third eye," where you can also "see" angels and spirit guides. If you haven’t yet mastered the ability to see angels, spirit guides, or auras, you can still learn. And with practice, you can exercise and master your intuitive ability.
Children see auras naturally (at least until someone tells them they can’t). Infants frequently look above a person in front of them. When they don't like the color of the aura above the head, or if this color is much different from their parent's aura, they cry, no matter how much smiling and cooing the person does. But you can learn to manipulate your aura to display a more favorable or calming color.
The following will help you learn to see auras, and as I mentioned earlier, it will help you to see angels and spirit guides, too, as they are all "seen" in the same manner.
How To See The AuraThis exercise is designed to help you to practice seeing auras. This is easiest to accomplish in a dimly lit room, but with enough light to see the aura. (To see your own aura, follow the instructions below standing about 3-4 feet away from a large mirror.)
1. Have the person sit or stand in front of a very softly illuminated plain white or light background.
2. Focus on the person’s "third eye" - the spot in the middle of the forehead between the brows - for 30 to 60 seconds. Throughout this entire exercise, remain focused on the third eye area.
3. After about 30 seconds, you should see that the person’s body is surrounded with a white light or glow emanating an inch or two from the body.
4. Remain focused on the third eye. Gradually you will begin to see colors emanating several inches from the body. These colors may also fluctuate.
5. Have the person move very slightly and slowing from side to side. You should see the aura "catching up" with the body as the person moves to each side.
Daily practice (10-15 minutes) helps to stimulate and develop your auric sight. You can practice wherever you go. Sit in the back of an auditorium or movie theater and focus on the backs of people’s heads. However, I would warn against the rudeness of staring at anyone straight on. Better yet, practice with a friend.
What Do The Colors Mean?Usually, people have one or two dominating colors in their aura. In addition to the dominant colors, the aura reflects thoughts, feelings, and desires of the moment as fluctuations in color combinations, intensity, and hue. For example a flash of orange in the aura may indicate a thought or desire to exercise power and control. As the person’s thoughts or feelings change, the aura will fluctuate and take on other colors.
Orange: Friendly, open, approachable, uplifting, absorbing, and inspiring. A sign of power. Ability and/or desire to control people. When orange is dominant, it usually contributes to a yellow aura, which then becomes gold, indicating not only a spiritual teacher, someone capable of demonstrating powerful abilities.
The list of colors below is simply a guide. As with books on dream symbols, you must also tap into your own intuitive nature to clearly define what the color or symbol really means. Slight changes in intensity or hue and combinations of colors can mean a big difference in what the person’s aura is actually revealing.
Purple: Indicates a high level of intuition and truly spiritual thinking. People with purple in their auras are often spiritual teachers, leaders, and healers.
Blue: Indicates a calm, relaxed, reserved, and balanced, spiritual individual. People with blue in their aura are born survivors. Blue thought is a thought about relaxing the nerve system to achieve the balance of the mind or a thought about surviving. A bright blue hue indicates that the person is receiving and/or transmitting energy or is in telepathic communication.
Turquoise: Indicates dynamic quality of being, highly energized personality, capable of projection, influencing other people. People with turquoise in their aura are well-organized and good team leaders because they take the time to explain their goals and influence their team rather than execute commands.
Green: Healthy, balanced, calming, charming, sensual, sensible natural healers. People with green dominating their auras are natural healers. They also love nature and enjoy gardening - they usually have a "green thumb" - and anything grows for them. Being in a presence of a person with a strong green aura is a very peaceful and restful experience.
Yellow: Intellectual, thinking, working faculties, joy, freedom, non-attachment, freeing or releasing vital forces. People who glow yellow are full of inner joy, contentment, very generous, and not attached to anything. A yellow aura appears as a result of a highly active "third eye" (which can often be seen glowing with violet) indicating a person who is very spiritually evolved. A yellow aura around the head indicates high spiritual development, a sign of a spiritual teacher. Buddha and Jesus had yellow auras extending to their arms.
Red: Physical energy; physically-based person personality or sensuality. Harsh reds tend to indicate emotionally charged physical animation, usually anger. Warm reds, sensuous, or physically charged and healthy. Can also indicate materialistic thoughts, thoughts about the physical body. Predominantly red aura indicates materialistically oriented person.
Pink: Unconditional love. Pink indicates a perfect balance between spiritual awareness and the material existence. The most spiritually evolved have not only a yellow aura around the head but also a large pink aura extending further away.
Gray or Black: Shielding or protective. A gray or black aura can indicate low energy, depression, or illness. Gray and black are very easily misinterpreted as these colors can indicate one who is very skilled who doesn't want to be noticed, scanned, or otherwise invaded (in which case these colors may appear to be metallic).
Matching Your Aura With Your EnvironmentWhen we learn what our dominant colors are in our own aura, we can attempt to match our surroundings or clothing with our aura. Redecorating your home to achieve a better match will result in a positive stimulation of our psyche and will help to promote our well being in many aspects.
Cleansing And Balancing Your AuraEvery morning upon arising you should "cleanse" and "balance" your aura. This is a simple exercise in visualization. Sit quietly or meditate by first surrounding yourself with divine white light. Next, visualize the colors you wish to emanate that day. Perhaps you could even choose your clothing colors to fortify your aura. This can change your aura temporarily, but with practice, you can learn to manipulate your aura to match and achieve your goals.
